Primary.

Primary curriculum

A double curriculum, two cultures.

Concordia School Paris is a bilingual primary school located near Trocadéro, Paris, where teaching is built on a demanding combination of the French national curriculum and the English National Curriculum.

Our ambition is to enable our students to develop strong academic skills in both educational systems, while moving naturally between two languages and two cultures.

Our students learn to read, write, reason, solve problems, debate, and present their thinking in both French and English.

This dual approach combines academic rigour, high-quality oral expression, intellectual independence, and analytical thinking.

Our Programme

Three pedagogical pillars that structure the curriculum.

01

A structured bilingual immersion

Our students alternate between 2.5 days taught in French and 2.5 days taught in English. All subjects are taught in both languages during the Primary years, gradually developing bilingual fluency and strong cognitive flexibility.

02

Strong academics

Reading, writing, spelling, maths, and structured thinking: we believe that a strong command of language is essential to developing precision of thought, independence, and academic success.

03

An active and structured approach to learning

Inspired by strong Anglo-American educational practice, our approach places our students’ active engagement at the heart of learning: experimentation, project-based learning, cooperation, and oral presentation.

Reading · Writing · Spelling · Mathematics

Strong Academics.

Primary School is an essential stage in the development of core academic foundations. Particular attention is given to reading, writing, spelling, maths, and the structuring of thought.

Reading has a central place in classroom life, with daily time dedicated to developing a love of reading, comprehension, and vocabulary.

Spelling is practised every day through a range of approaches: prepared dictations, self-dictations, negotiated dictations and Montessori methods.

We believe that a strong command of language is one of the most important foundations for precision of thought, independence, and academic success.

Bilingualism · Immersion

A structured bilingual immersion.

Teaching is organised to ensure a genuine and balanced immersion in both languages.

Our students alternate between 2.5 days in French and 2.5 days in English, gradually developing natural ease in both written and spoken language. All subjects are taught in both languages across the Primary years.

This immersion enables children to develop bilingual fluency as well as strong cognitive flexibility from an early age.

Mathematics · Science · STEM

Mathematics, science and reasoning.

In maths, our students follow an approach inspired by leading international practice, including methods developed in Singapore and several East Asian countries. The aim is to build a deep understanding of mathematical concepts through hands-on manipulation, visualisation, reasoning, and problem-solving.

Our students gradually learn to explain their reasoning, compare different strategies, and justify their answers.

Maths is closely linked to STEM projects, giving learning a clear sense of purpose: scientific experiments, programming, robotics, building electrical circuits, and engineering challenges.

Science Week and maths competitions are an important part of the scientific and reasoning culture developed within the school.

Anglo-American approach · Project-Based Learning

Learning by experimenting.

Our teaching draws widely on Anglo-American approaches that place our students’ active engagement at the centre of learning.

Children learn by experimenting, building, collaborating, and presenting their work. Project-based learning plays an important role in classroom life: interdisciplinary projects allow our students to use their knowledge in meaningful situations while developing independence, cooperation, creativity, analytical thinking, and communication.

This approach encourages learning that is more lasting, more thoughtful, and more engaging.

Oral expression · LAMDA · Confidence

Oral expression, a fundamental skill.

Oral expression is treated as a fundamental skill. Our students are regularly asked to speak in front of others, present their projects, debate, recite, and perform before an audience.

Through our partnership with the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), children gradually develop their fluency, diction, performance skills, and self-confidence.

We aim to educate students who can communicate with clarity, precision, and confidence.

Beyond the classroom

Learning everywhere, flourishing fully.

Paris as an extension

Paris, an extension of the classroom.

We place great importance on hands-on and cultural learning. Paris becomes an extension of the classroom.

Visits to museums, monuments, scientific institutions, and cultural spaces are regularly woven into the curriculum.

These experiences help our students give meaning to what they learn while developing their general knowledge, intellectual curiosity, and understanding of the wider world.

Sport · Arts · Balance

Sport, arts and balance.

Sport, the arts, and creative activities play an important role in the Primary curriculum.

Our students take part in several hours of sport each week, alongside a wide range of complementary activities: drama, music, visual arts, coding, chess, and creative clubs.

We believe that a balanced, structured, and stimulating environment enables children to develop their full academic, personal, and human potential.
